FAQ
Yes. The Clock is designed to live plugged in. Its backup battery lasts about 5 hours, so your alarm still goes off through a power cut.
If you see a small battery icon in the top right of the display, the clock is running on its battery. Push the cable into the back of the clock until it stops. It takes a firmer push than you’d think.
Loftie comes with a wall plug and a cloth-wrapped USB-C cable.
Only for setup, software updates and new content. After that, turn on Offline Mode (Settings, then Offline Mode) and the clock works fully without Wi-Fi.
The Clock connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, the standard in homes and apartment buildings. If your router uses one network name for both 2.4 and 5 GHz and setup won’t finish, ask your internet provider to split them, or use a phone hotspot set to 2.4 GHz for setup. Type the Wi-Fi password by hand rather than pasting it.
Both go from almost nothing to quite loud and bright. The display has 12 brightness levels, plus Auto, which dims to the room using a built-in light sensor. Alarm volume has 12 levels and is set separately from the volume for sounds.
For a completely dark room, press and hold the snooze button for blackout mode: the display and nightlight both switch off. Press any other button to bring them back.
Yes. New sounds and features arrive as software updates over Wi-Fi. The Clock never restarts on its own to update, so an update never gets in the way of an alarm. Restart it when it suits you and say yes when it asks to update.
You need the app for setup. After that, alarms, sounds, the nightlight, sleep timer and blackout mode all work from the clock’s own buttons. A few settings live in the app, such as Red Mode (which turns the display red), Bed Signal and routines.
The app is available for iPhone and Android.
Every alarm has two parts. First a gentle wake-up tone plays for 30 to 40 seconds, then snoozes itself. Then a stronger get-up alarm sounds when the snooze ends, 9 minutes later unless you change it (0, 3, 6 or 9 minutes, under Alarms, then Settings, then Snooze Time).
Tap the large oval button on top to snooze. Tap the small round Select button to turn the alarm off.
Each alarm can repeat on any days of the week, or go off just once. The alarm tone and alarm volume apply to every alarm on the clock.
A half moon in the top right means a Bed Signal (a bedtime reminder) is set. It isn’t do-not-disturb or an error. You can change it or turn it off in the app: tap your clock, then Bed Signal.
A battery icon in the top right means the clock is running on its backup battery, so it isn’t getting steady power. Push the cable into the back of the clock until it stops. If the icon stays, try another USB-C wall adapter.
A “!” next to a track means that sound is still downloading. That’s normal after an update and clears by itself.
That’s normal. Red Mode (in the app: tap your clock, then Red Mode) switches the display between red and white, and the clock restarts to apply it.
Red Mode is different from the red nightlight in the base, which only the Red Shell Clock has. The nightlight color on other models can’t be changed.
There’s no factory reset, but this hands it over clean:
- On the clock, delete your alarms, then go to Settings and choose Forget WiFi.
- In the app, remove any routines tied to the clock, then tap the clock, Device Info, and Forget Loftie Clock.
The new owner downloads the Loftie app, signs up with their own email, and sets it up like a new clock.
