Alarms
Alarm didn't go off, or didn't wake you? Most alarm trouble comes down to one of four things. Here's how to check each one in a minute or two.
1. Make sure the alarm is on for today
In the app: go to Alarms. An alarm that's on has its toggle switched on, and the days it rings are highlighted.
On the clock: open Alarms. An alarm that's on has a checked box next to its time, and a check on each day it rings.
Each alarm has its own days. New alarms are set for every day of the week. For a single morning, turn on One-Time Alarm when you set it up.
The next alarm always shows in the bottom-right corner of the main screen, on both the clock and the app. If it isn't the one you expect, that's the place to start.
2. Check the alarm volume and tones
Alarm volume is separate from your sleep sounds volume. Turning your sounds down at night doesn't lower your alarm, and a quiet alarm won't be fixed by turning your sounds up. Set it in the app under Alarms → Alarm Settings → Alarm Volume, or on the clock under Alarms → Settings.
Loftie wakes you in two phases: a gentle wake-up tone first, then a get-up tone after your snooze time. If the default tones aren't doing it for you, try a different pair under Alarm Settings. More on the two-phase alarm.
Tones and alarm volume apply to every alarm on your clock. You can't give one alarm a different tone from another.
3. Make sure the clock has power
If the clock is off when you wake up, it probably lost power overnight. Check that the cable is firmly seated at both ends and plugged into a working outlet, and take a look at our power guide.
If the clock is plugged in but the screen is completely dark, it's probably in Blackout mode, which a long press of the snooze button turns on. It switches off the display and nightlight but not your alarms: when an alarm goes off, the screen comes back on. To wake the display yourself, press a button on the clock.
4. Run a quick test
Set an alarm for two or three minutes from now and leave the clock alone. If it rings, your clock is working and the issue is almost always in steps 1 or 2. If it doesn't, let us know. That's the most useful thing you can tell us.
A note on the light
The Clock's light is a nightlight. You can set it to come on with your first alarm tone by turning on Light in that alarm's settings. It isn't designed as a sunrise light. For a gradual sunrise wake-up, that's what the Loftie Lamp does: its light rises from the base over about an hour before your alarm.
